Movies were 2.35 to 1 YEARS before you were even born, much less the
birth of DVD or wide TVs.
TVs in wide form are usually 16:9, which is 1.78 to 1. That covers
those films, and the wider 2.35 : 1 works only have a small
"letterboxing" effect going. Nothing any real film lover would cry
about.
And NO, it is NOT "called anamorphic".
