That sounds like it would be like a high-end Porsche with a Yugo
engine :-)
I've found my DVD recorder to be exceptionally reliable.
The quality is better than my S-VHS fairly high-end VCR, and the
cost per hour of video is about 1/3 that of tape. And I'd buy
high-grade tapes in quantity at just under $2.00 and never record
less than in 2-hour mode except when I was forced to handle a long
overnight recording.
