Unfortunately, I have a DVD/CD drive but the laptop only has a CD-ROM
drive installed. So ... I doubt I can use these utilities ... or
could I ? Even if I could, it would be a US-format DVD drive, no
doubt, and wouldn't that cause a problem with a European format DVD
disc ? If not, maybe I'll try to find somebody with a DVD drive on
their computer, and try the software you so kindly suggested.
This is so maddening ... and amazon/uk basically just told me to
return the set for a refund and buzz off because they cannot determine
if an individual disc is defective or not in a replacement set ... and
they can't send me an individual replacement disc. I do have a friend
who's a computer guy, and English, so I may call him up and see if
he's got any tricks to try to revive this blasted disc.
Thanks again for the advice ... maybe I'll be able to try it yet.
