I hope a fairly newby question is okay here.
I've got a European DVD that among its many logos has "PAL Region 0"
and "DVD Video" -- no indication of NTSC anywhere. This plays on an XP
computer and on a recent MacBook as do copies of it, but not on my
older DVD player or a brand-new one (both SONY).
It is normal for the computer to be more versatile, I think. Correct?
But when I put it in the newer DVD player (and the book explicitly
says it won't play PAL) it *almost* plays. The machine briefly
displays "PLAY" and once in a while I even see a second of the opening
scene (kind of jittery). Does this sound possible?
The reason I ask is that I want to be sure my only problem is PAL and
not some defect in a disk that ought to be playable on an NTSC
machine.
Many thanks for any info / insights.
Sincerely,
Jeanne
