But, to the OP, if you upgrade/replace your OS, make sure you
have backed up all your important data (music, video, pictures,
text, program installer .exe files, as well as Program Files
folders which contain settings and data you don't want to lose)
on external media (an external hard drive is ideal) before you
format and do an upgrade. Then you can copy it all back on to
your computer after the format/upgrade. Reinstall your vital
programs, then copy from the external media their Program Files
folders.
Also, if you upgrade to Win 2K, you'll probably need more memory.
Find out which kind of memory you have (SDram, or whatever), and
buy more of it and install it into the memory slots on the
motherboard (you'll probably be able to get some help with how to
do it from the vendor you choose). If you have a laptop, you
might want to just bring it in to a good computer repair shop for
that.
I know this is all a pain, but it's still probably cheaper than
buying a decent new computer and, having used Win ME myself, I
really do recommend a better OS than that.
