I'm not so sure you really need to worry about getting a "Full HD" 42"
set unless you use it for you PC as well. You'll not "see" 1920x1080 at
a reasonable viewing distance on a 42". Far more important are the
quality of the de-interlacing system and refresh rate of the set. IMHO.
I've been doing the same homework and been trying to find a good quality
Plasma or LCD TV but have so far failed. There are just so many
inconsistencies at the moment from crazy unreal colours, cloudy blacks
(Sony) super black levels with no detail and horrible 24P (in 25P-land)
playback. There is simply a plethora of crappy TVs out there and it is
not always the cheap ones that are the worst.
Personally I'm now waiting for 100 Hz on the bigger screens, 24P and
more consistent LCD back lighting.
