All that is true but offer to make it as painless as possible for them.
After all they are sharing what they paid to produce.

I sincerely doubt a single station used both formats as mentioned above.
Traditionally local affiliates research and try to use the best format
for them exclusively. Of course they'll have a few decks around that can
play other formats but they usually pick one.

My suggestion is bring in a laptop and external drive and digitize the
material during off hours. DVcam and DVCpro are firewire friendly. We
never let acquisition footage off property. So you're begging them for
use of their decks and space.
