I sat down and watched Death Proof last night... actually that's not
entirely correct... I sat down last night, watched as much Death Proof
as I could stand, chapter skipped to Chapter 10 which is where the
movie actually starts and watched the rest of it.
I do like Tarantino flicks, in fact I think Kill Bill, pt1 is as close
to being a perfect movie as I've seen, but every now and then he hits
this self indulgent phase where all he wants to do is shoot scene
after scene of women walking. Jackie Brown fell into this trap and so
does Death Proof. Yes, the women are very pretty... great... MOVE
ALONG... Yes, yes, you know more about awesome 70s music than anyone
alive... now please start telling an actual story...
Maybe it's because this DVD is an extended version of the theatrical
release (which I haven't seen), I don't know. Large parts of the first
9 chapters could be removed entirely without affecting the film at
all.

p.s. For those wondering, no, the rest of the Grindhouse trailers do
not appear on this disc. There's one for Death Proof and one for
Planet Terror.
