Is Sony HVR-A1 still a good choice?

Posted by Luru Dai on 10/02/07 08:32

I will buy a camcorder in Nov. for my coming baby. But I hesitate
between Sony A1 and Canon HV20. I know hesitation between them is
weird, since A1 is pro camcorder and HV20 is consumer one. I like a
more professional mode. I like to do adjusting. Concerning my budget,
Sony A1 seems the only choice in professional products. I also like
its small size and crazy with it sound system. But, it is too old,
released about 2 years already. The CMOS is the old generation, even
before HC3 and seems have bad low light performance as I heard(Not
sure).

Camcorderinfo.com review says that Canon HV20 is pretty good, seems
the best in its competitors(Over Sony HC7). For me, it is a camcorder
with ugly looking, covered with cheap plastic, hard to handle(the
review said) and a customer model. I am not fancy with it, but if it
is good, it is good.

I like A1, in fact I planed to buy A1 one year before, for some reason
I didn't make it. But electronic stuffs develop so quickly. A normal
desktop computer is comparable with a super computer 5 year before. To
buy a model released for two years may not smart.

I beg your suggestion. I couldn't wait any more to buy one. Thank you
in advance.
