I tried the Nvideo hotfixes but still Avid won't work under Vista.
Avid uses the video overlay for playbck and I think that's handled
differently in Vista so no amout of tweaking is likely to resolve it.
It needs Avid to rewrite their display interface.
Reducing the vists eye candy will definatley help performance but you may
still be thwarted by the differences in Vista over XP.
