Unfortunately no. I bought into the line that went, 'well Sony will do
the right thing and put out FW update that will pick it up'. When it
became apparent that Sony had no such intentions, it was too late.
That's ok though, the S300 does what it does quite well, it just doesn't
do all that Sony wanted us to believe it did.

But I'm a go ahead kind of guy, my PS3 is on its way so that if BD
loses, I'll have an excellent game machine to use up the last of my
hand-eye coordination with! <G> Gettin' old just ain't for pussies you
know?

The S300 will probably be sold at some point in time, as will the Yamaha
RX-V 661 I have.

Didn't say Profile 1.1, said some were delayed because of some issues.
The comments at the time were that it probably worked only on the PS3.
Kind of like the crap that Disney keeps loading on discs that only the
PS3 does well.

That is the claim, but I'll wait for the actuality. I don't take claims
about either side of the HiDef DVD war at face value.

Um, I read something about that. I think they said it would have 'PIP
functionality', but carefully did NOT say that it would be 1.1. Feel
free to provide a link that says otherwise. Personally I think it can
and will have that at some point, but won't be flabbergasted if it
doesn't.
