I've got a series of takes that I want to turn into an abstract,
dream-like sequence. I've tripod, steadicam and overhead jib shots of a
number of costumed dancers performing a "magical" dance in a rainforest.
The background is dark but the dancers are well lit. I think a slow
frame rate on the original footage would have provided most of what I
need.
The "Camera Blur" effect and the "Ghost" effect don't do what I want.
I've tried duplicating a clip into another video track, delaying it by 3
frames, and setting opacity to 50% (and repeating that into another
video track, 50% opacity, and delaying by another 3 frames), and it's
getting closer. Then I added a fast blur at value 65 and it's getting
even better.
Now I'd like to add some sort of magical golden "sparkle" in selected
areas of the frame (NOT across the whole frame), perhaps across the
bodies of the dancers - presumably I'd need a travelling matte to apply
this to moving (rapidly moving!) objects, but I'm not sure how to do
this. Is there a how-to or online tutorial for this type of effect?
Any other ideas to make this look interesting without being too cheesy?
It's a children's story, so a certain amount of cheese is acceptable :-)
This is a Windows XPPro PC, 1GB memory, Premiere Pro 1.5. Footage from a
Panasonic HVX202, converted by the RAYLIGHT decoder product, editing in
low-res mode for a rough cut.
