Thank you very much. One rental place I plan to visit also said the transfer
cannot be done digitally via firewire. When I first heard it I thought they
must be kidding. Now I'm beginning to think they are right.
The info you give here is a gotcha. It's a good thing I have not rented a
deck with firewire to attempt my own transfer. It would have been a big
surprise.
