You won't get very far away from the "on camera" sound if the
mic is on the camera.
If you are shooting a wrestling match or something, you might
get away with a camera-mounted shotgun indoors.
But if you are doing any 1-on-1 individual speaking (demonstrating
an exercise equipment, for example), I guarantee that the sound
from a camera-mounted shotgun mic will NOT be acceptable.
ANY camera-mounted shotgun microphone, even one that costs
more than the camera.
