Yes, an excellent thing to review before you go out on a location
scouting junket. And to share with your producer and director
while trying to defend good location sound procedures. And if
your producer does NOT take sound out on location scouting,
might be worth suggesting that they look for a less conscientious
sound person. :-)
Probably also of value to the OP since he is his own producer
(for better or for worse! :-) In a way he has better control over
his environment than somebody shooting out on a different
location every 4 hours. OTOH, lots of things he can't fix (or
even change) economically.
