Sounds like you got WinMX from scammers. If you paid any money
for WinMX, you got scammed. WinMX is free and always has been.
Uninstall the copy you have now, and install a copy of WinMX from
going to winmxworld.com (not sure if that's the right url) or
getting the one listed as version WinMX 3.54 beta (I think).
