Ah! I've had various problems with both media and hardware and thanks
to the fine posters of this group, I've solved both:

I have had various burner problems and someone suggested an internal
NEC burner; got it, works excellent. I went through various media
trying to find someting that would actually work (not freeze, get a
full burn, work repeatedly) and TDKs were recommended and so far I've
had 100% success rate. Thank you AVD!
