Could it be that IE6 is closing down it's connection through underuse,
and although the modem is still actually connected, other irritatingly
interconnected bits of Windows are telling some dll somewhere that it
isn't? The reason it stays on when you're not running Winmx could be
that the only other reason you run the modem is for M$ stuff. I'm only
guessing here, I await a good spanking by Loco or Don, or if I'm lucky
Marybeth.

The winmx install progam is where you left it btw. I have a folder
cunningly labelled Downloads for this.
