Even if a re-install was required, you'd probably have to do something
differently.

Why do you think that WinMX doesn't think you're connected to the
internet? There's more to a good WinMX download than an internet
connection.

Since you never mention just how long and successfully you've used
WinMX, it's difficult to determine what your changed settings would
accomplish. But since you don't say what your settings are, it's all
academic, right?

Your internet connection is down. It's the only explanation that
plausibly explains your lack of downloads and your being non-informed
as to the state of WinMX.

It would be easy to suggest actually reading the NG, within which this
subject has been more than adequately discussed. With last week's
dramatic developments, I'd thought we'd seen the end of posters who
drop onto this NG and post the same question as dozens of other
newbies, and expect to get the answer posted for them.

Have you tried Google? The thing about NG posts is that they're not
like TV shows - you never really miss them because Usenet has its own
built-in VCR feature, complete with titles. And you don't have to
fast-forward because it's all search able.
