hope I got your attention
Do not use the patches to replace your hosts file
the hosts file serves a very useful purpose in the antispyware field

with hosts

backup your hosts file to Hosts.old
edit the hosts file with notepad and paste the patch into place
ensure that there remains only one 127.0.0.1 localhost entry and that it is
the first not commented out line the rest can be in any order
