Why don't you just grab the hosts that have been included in many posts
here? Copy them and paste them into Notepad and save the file as HOSTS.txt
in C:\WINDOWS. Then go there and remove the txt extension. That's it. A
hosts file is not something you need to be all that concerned about. It's
used to redirect Internet names to IP addresses. It is a type of DNS - Name
to Address. In this case it is necessary to redirect the names for the
winmx.com domain to Peer Cache Servers. It can also be used to redirect
known Spyware and Popup Internet addresses. Do a little search on HOSTS in
Windows 98 and you'll find it is quite simple.

Don't get this hosts just read what it has to say about the hosts file.
There is one mistake there. You want it to be HOSTS in Windows 98 not
hosts. Note the case.
