Yes I see now what the issue is. I had assumed he wanted to get his WinMX
to connect and the patch for that is the hosts file. There is an issue with
most of the patches because Windows 98's location for HOSTS is different
than the location for hosts in NT. That is what I thought he wanted.

Now there is another issue. This winsock2 dll. That has nothing to do with
the patch to connect. That is a completely different issue and really they
should not be experiencing it in Windows 98. This is a "Bug" in Windows XP.
I do not know all the circumstances of this issue but I can tell you anyone
trying to apply a fix for this outside of Microsoft is asking for trouble.
It seems these two issues have amalgamated and they should not be. They are
two utterly different issues.

I have asked for further information on this winsock dll issue but have only
been able to get a rough draft of it by reading other posts. I have not
seen anything specefic on what exactly is happening other than WinMX errors
upon start up and then closes. That is NOT the connection issue as was
experienced last weekend.
