No a default install of Windows 95\98\ME does NOT include a HOSTS file.
That has to be put in manually or you might get it from an OEM or you might
get it from a update. Maybe 98SE has it not sure.

HOSTS.sam is nothing you should be conerned about here. We are talking
about HOSTS NOT HOSTS.sam

Yes get a current hosts here for Win2K. I tied one that was only a few days
old and it didn't work. I had to pick one up in here through one of the
latest posts. I don't know anything about this dll other than its name. It
is a winsock dll I know that much and there is a bug in it for Windows XP.
But other than that info on it where it is and all that has been sparse to
none here. Sorry.
