its a little worse than that. they don't just accuse (by use of the word
"alleged") they demand "cease and desist" (as though you were already
guilty, even if all you shared was a list of files without actually being
in possession of said files). My latest is with BayTSP. They sent a
complaint to my isp (cox.net) stating I was in violation of copyright
infringement laws, yet the only proof they provided was the name of the
file, the username I used and the file size (all of which can be faked with
lopster quite easily). had they actually downloaded like the first 2 MB of
the file, then they would have had a case (assuming they could download a
ghost file and actually get it to play). fact is, they did not. they laid
that accusation out there and forced me to have to deal with my isp in
order to get anything done.
