The segment of the market that buys anything "Apple" will always be there for the company
and accept whatever restrictions Apple chooses to impose. The other segments don't seem
to have that same blind loyalty. I just don't see the systems merging, except as a result
of Apple's withdrawal or sale of iTunes, which would drive Mac users back to leeching p2p
as in the pre-iTunes days and reduce the DRM-stuffed market considerably. The remaining
players shouldn't be surprised they don't get the Apple-iTunes share and will probably
have to ditch DRM to see another growth.
