I'll give it a shot too. It seems that the switch toggles between the 2
possibilities: Standby or On. If I'm right, there will have to be an
indicator light that tells what position it's in. At least there has to be
one for On.

If it meant that the standby mode was on, it would have been labelled
without the hyphen: Standby on, and the O in on would not be capitalized.

Admittedly, this is poor ergonomics. I would have used a / between the 2
words; it would have been much clearer.
