Thanks for the kind words CQ - amazing that you can tell that much about my
attitude to DRM/Copy Protection by reading a post in a newsgroup - very
impressive :-)

As a newbie to iPOD/MP3 it is messages like yours that puts people off
asking questions in the first place - we all have to start somewhere...don't
we?

For the 'record' I loathe any type of DRM or Copy Protection - I have taken
CD's back to stores if I discover they are copy protected on principle -
long before I had the desire to rip to HDD.

FYI to solve my problem I tried what the next poster, Joel suggested -
instead of trying to burn an Audio CD as was suggested earlier in the thread
I burned a Data CD.

This was just the suggestion I was looking for - not a patronising
lecture...

Have a nice day!

Regards,

Right. Well it is the "protection" that is causing you to be...

Given that, it seems odd that you still feel...

It would seem that you are the exact kind of customer that those selling
protected files without consideration for whether or not the purchaser is
going to be able to get any kind of fair use from that file desire. The
protection they have used is preventing you from using the files in a
perfectly legitimate way yet you still wish to retain that protection.

Good for you, I say. Way to uphold the law and fight for their right to
party at your expense.

Perhaps you should take up your issues with the people who sold you these
files? I for one would be very interested to hear what sort of
satisfaction their customer service people (they do HAVE a customer
service department, don't they?) give you.
