If the song is "Popcorn", the original group name is (are you sitting down?)
Hot Butter. There was a remake in the early 90's which we got through the
record pool ( a house mix of sorts, if my Alzheimer's medication is doing
it's job. Regardless, I remember the only reason I kept the remake was
because one of the versions on the press was the original, full-length mix
and those were as hard to come by as... well, reasons to play the song were
then --and continue to be.
I do remember the song being a HUGE hit in Europe, during all nine of the
months I was there one year in the 70's. Let's face it; the song had a great
hook for disco, but the same tawdry allure doesn't fly on dancefloors (and
probably not for too many plays in living rooms) nowdays.
