No, you're OK, you're in the best place.
The suggestion from here is that you *rip* your cds to mp3 with CDex using
the Lame mp3 encoder with the *alt-preset-standard* quality.

Then play them with WinAmp.
Depending on the size of the mp3 device you get, you may want to re-encode
the mp3s to reduce their size so you get more songs on the device ( you
lose quality doing this ). You can do this with CDex too.
