Any of the freeware rippers will rip to WAV without additional plug-ins.
WAV is the format they use as an intermediary for their plug-ins to work
with. If you don't use a plug-in, then they just give you WAV's.

Oh, personally, I recommend Exact Audio Copy or CDex as a CD ripper.
Both of these are "secure" rippers, meaning they are programmed to check
for errors on the CD and re-check to make sure they're getting the
proper data.
