In my experience this error is generated by discs of the wrong video
standard (e.g. PAL in an NTSC player) or poorly-authored home made DVD's
that somehow violate the DVD standard.
If your player is doing this intermittently on commercial domestic DVD's
I'd say it's having problems reading them ... by your player model,
probably due to a failing laser pickup.
