Brian,

I feel your pain. Unfortunately the MS monopilizers have struck again.
80% of on-line, for purchase, music is in this format. You can burn
these files to Audio CD format using Roxio Creator Classic [File>New
Project>Audio CD] and then import to i-Tunes to MP3 format
[Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Importing] or use a LAME MP3 encoder. If
you're going to use i-Pod exclusively use the Advanced Audio Coding
(AAC) format. I wouldn't recommend Total Recorder unless you have a
very good sound card. Keep your music files in your i-Tunes folder.
Your files will "sync" to your i-Pod automatically when you plug the
USB cable to your PC. Good luck.
