Depending on the variables your looking at it's likely that your sound
card will be the biggest factor. My understanding is that the analog to
digital section of most sound cards isn't all that hot. When I started
moving vinyl records to digital I got a USB preamp so I could work around my
sound card. Unless you're planning on being an audio engineer or a
programmer I'd look for something smaller to tackle.
