2. How could I break down auto 12v to connect to the player when out
of 240v mains range? -- fit a 7.5v globe in series??, use a
resistor?? if so what value? (Cant get my head around Ohm's Law)

Does the unit use a small coaxial connector like most Sony Diskmans use for
power? If it does you can use a car cigarette light adapter, I have seen
some in Sony Car accessory kits like at Circuit City.
