1.5db is the limitation of the field in the MP3 file that's changed, as
far as I know.

If you want more precise alteration of volume, you can use actual
replaygain tags rather than MP3Gain. However the only players which will
support the changes are ones that support replaygain tags, such as
foobar2000.
