I keep reading that alt-preset standard results in files with an average bit
rate of approximately 192 kpbs. However, with alt-preset standard (using
CDex and LAME 3.96), my resulting file sizes are substantially larger than
when encoding the same tracks with CBR 192 (with q=2). Why is that? Is the
192 average for preset standard merely a generalization which won't be true
for many files?
