Can't really blame them. They've been working as a price fixing
cartel for so long that they've gotten fat and lazy and want it to
continue forever. Easier to influence our corrupt governments than it
is to improve their product and style.
One thing P2P has done for me is open my eyes to the real music still
being produced. The RIAA does have some stuff I like to listen to -
but most of the newer stuff lacks feeling and is over-polished and
tweaked to appeal to mass consumer idiots. Produced by musicians who
still enjoy the art.
The RIAA had a place in the 30's - they set technical standards and
solved technical problems. Now they are just the mouth of greedy
marketeers. Entropy . . .
MPAA is in the same boat. There's any number of low budget flicks
being made with real style and acting. I don't mind ready subtitles
to see good acting. You know - real sweat and dirt not that stuff
sprayed on some actor that just stepped out of his $100K air
conditioned trailer. A movie without three fake looking explosions
every ten minutes, or really fake computer generated graphics.
When it comes to a fight - my money is with the RIAA and MPAA - they
already own my government.
