I haven't heard of anything of that sort, but Exact Audio Copy and CDex
are rippers with "secure" ripping, meaning that when there are read
errors the sectors are read again, and that way you can get a good rip
even though there are some scratches. Obviously nothing will give you a
perfect rip from a CD that's in *horrible* condition, but these rippers
are pretty good.
If you decide to use EAC, the ripping mode you want to use is "Secure".
If you decide to use CDex, then you want to use "Full Paranoia".
