Anyone got any idea how the arcan world of customs charges work.

I'm considering bringing in some lens adaptors from Canada (value $160 US)
plus a whopping $60 courier and insurance is being asked for

As this is most likely going to be via courier and hence nabbed by customs,
what is the likely maximum hit?
