For resolution, yeah, it is. Even a measly 1440x1080 easily beats out
every SDTV ever made.
And, if you feed your "best SDTV" and the Sanyo a 1080i signal, you'll
find the Sanyo picture with to be far, far better.

Well, *my* 3-year-old HDTV is running just fine. It's not a Sanyo, but
it's build quality has been laughed at by far better than you.
And, have you ever seen any reliability studies on Sony TVs? They are
nowhere near the longest lasting.
