Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of BAD TIMING: CRITERION COLLECTION,
THE CHASE (1994), COLD BLOOD, DARK SHADOWS: DVD COLLECTION 20, DOGTOWN
AND Z-BOYS: DELUXE EDITION, GATE OF FLESH: CRITERION COLLECTION, I CAN
DO BAD ALL BY MYSELF, LONG WEEKEND, LORDS OF DOGTOWN: UNRATED EXTENDED
CUT, and ROBOTS:

BAD TIMING: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Rob Lineberger, overall
score 83/100):
"If you took Kramer vs. Kramer's sunny interpersonal banter, then mixed
in some psychological rape and the bunny from Fatal Attraction, you'd be
close to the feeling you'll get from Bad Timing."

THE CHASE (1994) (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 80/100):
"I would classify it as one of those 'Sunday afternoon movies.' You know
the type -- where you've just polished off two plates of lasagna and you
plant yourself in front of the television to veg out and the only things
on are car racing and an infomercial about a portable rotisserie and you
could really go for some mindless entertainment and, hey, it's The
Chase! That'll do."

COLD BLOOD (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 78/100):
"Cold Blood plays like a jumbo-sized episode from Tales from the Crypt.
And while that can be taken as a compliment, I couldn't help but feel it
seemed a little too bloated, even for an 80-minute film."

DARK SHADOWS: DVD COLLECTION 20 (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall
score 90/100):
"Half the cast was in upstate New York filming the big screen treatment
of the Barnabas story, which would feature the original idea to keep the
vampire purely evil and kill him off quickly and violently. Because of
this project, Jonathan Frid and much of the cast had to be written out
of the story for a number of episodes. This makes Dark Shadows: DVD
Collection 20 feel different than other collections."

DOGTOWN AND Z-BOYS: DELUXE EDITION (reviewed by Mike Jackson, overall
score 93/100):
"Stacy Peralta, the man behind the camera, moves the film with self-
assurance -- not just as a great storyteller (which he is), but as
someone who was at Ground Zero when the bomb went off. He was
there, man."

GATE OF FLESH: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Adam Arseneau, overall
score 89/100):
"Towards the end of his career, films like Tokyo Drifter and Branded To
Kill had strayed so radically from the uniform B-movie output the
studios hired him to create that he was blacklisted from making films in
Japan for decades. And nothing gets you more famous in the cult
filmmaking world than getting blacklisted."

I CAN DO BAD ALL BY MYSELF (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall
score 81/100):
"While it's not quite the crowd pleaser of his other works, I Can Do Bad
All By Myself is definitely the blueprint for the Perry success that
would eventually change the face of urban gospel theater. One thing that
is obvious, despite all the criticism he usually faces, is that if Perry
ever put his mind to it, he probably could create a serious drama that
doesn't require a wisecracking old coot or a bumbling bald stooge as
comic relief to sell his sentiments."

LONG WEEKEND (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 78/100):
"Positioning itself in the 'Humans vs. Nature' genre, Long Weekend
offers a commendable stab at animals-going-crazy horror. However, I
think the film is less a straight-out screamer and more an exercise in
examining the dissolution of the relationship between two enormously
unlikable people."

LORDS OF DOGTOWN: UNRATED EXTENDED CUT (reviewed by Rob Lineberger,
overall score 83/100):
"Music, camera work, set design, and attitude combine to give us a board's-
eye view of thrashing. Even if you aren't a skater, after watching Lords
of Dogtown you'll have a pretty good idea of what drives skaters and how
it feels. That's what movies are supposed to do: expose us to things we
can't experience for ourselves."

ROBOTS (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 81/100):
"This is one amazing-looking movie. Yet when shed of its groundbreaking
visuals, it's worse than some of Disney's decidedly dreary flat-imagery
flops. It just goes to prove that the interjection of technology doesn't
always result in energy and enjoyment."
