The LG someone recommended to me seems OK - i`m not sure what normal rip
speeds should be (this seems to do 3x-6x approx) using Shrink, and costs
£30 from SVP (LG GSA-4163B)

The slowest i`ve seen it rip was at around 1.2Mb/sec, but that was a
one-off afaik, and probably caused by me installing Windows Updates at
the time :-}

Quick random disc check - 5,500k/sec within about 4 secs on an old B&W
movie I had to hand in Shrink, ripping to ISO - this is on a 2.6Ghz
Celery w/256Mb RAM and onboard gfx...

Oh, and an RPC1 hack is readily available.
