Thanks for this -and to everyone else.
I've downloaded and installed Gordian Knot (set of various tools) and
amongst that stuff there seems to be what I need. It's all still a bit of a
mine-field and learning curve and trial & error, but that's fine. I'll muck
about.
I do predict a carry-all ipod-style device and procedure for
ripping/downloading at some stage though. And Soon. It's all a bit hush-hush
and convoluted right now, but give it a year or two and everyone will be at
it... at the press of a button too.

I'm a little bit... emmm... sloshed at the moment. First time in a few
weeks/months having a drink actually. My typing skills seem unaffected at
the moment though so I'm gonna quit while I'm ahead and not try typing any
more after this one.
