Nothing fortunate about it, some tests the weather was with us and some
against, but when push came to shove one (or more) player(s) always stood up
to be counted. Much is said about Flintoff and Pietersen but it was the tail
that for me epitomised the progress over the last few years. Giles shoving
certain critics words right up them, doing well with the ball and sticking
around with the bat. Never more so than the 4th & 5th tests.

I was lucky enough to be at the Oval on Sunday and had an amazing time,
ending up drinking into the night with the Army and a bunch of Ozzy's until
my mate lost the ability to walk!

On another note, I go to all the England Football Tournaments and it was
great to have a laugh and a joke with opposing fans without having to have
one eye on the rest of the bar and your way out planned. The same could also
be said about the Rugby when I go to that.....

If it brings new fans great, hopefully county cricket will benefit.

Maybe in at time of dubious invasions and terrorism by people twisting a
peaceful faith, this country just needed something wholesome, non religious,
non political to support and cheer. Especially with our football team on the
whole plainly not caring......

Just my humble opinion....
