Thanks for the suggestions. I'm new to this, so I hadn't heard of RCE
before. Not sure my discs have RCE on them, as I don't get to see the "map"
that people say you should see when you insert one of those discs. All I
get is the message: "Disc playback unauthorised. Consult owner's manual for
more information."

My other Region 1 discs all play fine in the Toshiba and the discs
themselves all play fine in a Region 1 DVD computer drive.

I am afraid that I don't know how to change my Tosh SD-220E's region code,
so I can't really investigate that further.

I think I will lend the discs to some of my friends, to see if they have
multiregion DVD players that can play the discs - if so, I may just have to
get a new player. :(
