Yup - agree with that, I've been a huge Lovejoy fan for years and series
one is much more in line with the original books! Most of the episodes
from the series were based on one of the novels!

I'd also recommend reading some of the novels if you haven't already
done so, I think they're all in paperback now so won't cost the earth.
It's worth reading them in order as although they don't strictly follow
on from each other there are kind of 'running themes' and nods to things
that happened in earlier books!
