I stopped using argos a while ago as they got a bit expensive .

It seems a common tactic these days to build up a reputation for being
cheap or reasonable and then gradually increase the price of stuff .

A pc computer game reviewed in computer active ages ago was £5 but argos
was selling it for £15 and having a quick look around some other
electronic items showed a £10 markup was often the case for certain low
priced items .

While argos do sell stuff like freeview boxes at £30 and pretty much the
same price as anywhere else - thats probably only so you dont really
look much at the price of other things and just assume what they charge
must be reasonable .
