Hello all

First post so bear with me.

Our trusty video recorder finally gave up on us a few months back.
Rather than just get another VCR I was swayed by the salesman's
argument to buy a DVD recorder instead.

Back at home, all was going well until we began wondering how we were
going to play the home movies we'd got on VHS cassette. Our son
suggested that we borrow his VCR and we should be able to record
straight onto DVD. Sounded simple enough. Several days later we were
getting no-where. Each video cassette took an eternity to transfer and
unless we hung around watching each and every minute of our recordings,
we'd be transferring not only our precious footage but also the
not-so-precious snow screens.

Desperate to show a relatively recent home video to some friends, I
used www.yourvideosondvd.co.uk to transfer the contents of one DVD for
me. A couple of days later back came two DVDs, all neatly packaged. No
problem at all and very professionally edited.

The only query I have is would these DVDs play if I was to send them to
friends in the United States? Don't they have a different type of
television system over there?
