They do, but many US customers use TVs sourced from outside the US,
and any of those made in the last ten years should be able to show PAL
as well as NTSC, the American system. Many DVD players can read PAL,
the European system, and output NTSC if properly set up.

It occurs to me you should have asked for the DVDs in NTSC format as
most modern UK setups can cope fine with both formats.

The bottom line is, check with the people you're sending it to. if
they have up-to-date setups they should be able to play the disks
fine. They might have to look in their TV manuals to confirm it. Ask
them to see if their sets and/or DVD players can cope with PAL.

Or you could get in touch with the video-transfer people to see if
they wil do you further copies of your DVDs in NTSC format.
