Unless you buy a TV with a pixel resolution capable of at least 720p
there's no need to change your player. Existing HD players only
upscale the image to HD resolution, since there are no HD discs.

If your LCD/Plasma TV has less than 720 vertical dots, let's say it's
a 852 x 480 Panasonic, the HD player will upscale 576 PAL to 720 and
then your TV will downscale it back to the native 480 resolution
again! I've not seen it in practice, but in principle you could end up
with a far worse picture as the two scalers go head to head to modify
the image.

If you intend to buy a pixel accurate HD TV then you would do well to
get a HD upscaling player such as the Samsung or the Neuneo one in
this month's HCC. They seemed to rave about the later.
